Pilates was founded some 75 years ago by a "Joseph Pilates"
Pilates brings mind and body together focusing strongly on total concentration, balance, precision and breathing.
Pilates exercises are slow, controlled flowing movements primarily to strengthen the "core" muscles that stabilise and support the spine, realign the body and correct postural problems.
When practising pilates regularly you will notice changes in your body. You will become fitter and stronger by slimming your muscles and developing slenderness rather than bulk.
Your abdomen, lower back and hips will become a firm and central support for your body.
You will also gain increased energy, flexibility and overall health.
Pilates is a great part of any exercise programme and can either be booked on its own or combined within your personal training session to gain both aerobic conditioning and help to strengthen the core muscles and balance the body.
